Project Description

We were approached by an Australian company to provide design and analysis of a seat frame in a specialised transport vehicle. The goal of this project was to assess the seat anchorage strength, in compliance with VSB (Vehicle Standards Bulletin) 6 Section K, VSB5A and ADR (Australian Design Rule) 3/03, for the rear section of a specialised transport vehicle designed and constructed in Australia. The seat belts were a lap belt design mounted wholly within the seat structure and there are both rear and forward seating positions. The worst loading conditions were adopted and used for both rear and forward seating positions. After a few variations to the design to get it to meet the applicable standards a set of fabrication drawings and an engineering report were produced.
